1.11 Special Message from Priscilla

Dear Friends,

It is with both sadness and excitement that I share with you my plans for transitioning out as Executive Director of GIFT. Sadness to be leaving the staff of an organization that I care deeply about, and excitement for its future.

I plan to transition out in June 2011. I know that’s still 6 months away, but the board and staff would like to give ourselves enough time to find a dynamic new ED for GIFT.

I’m moving back to Southern California to be with my partner, and I see this as a great opportunity to make room for new leadership. I do not know what I will be doing next (I’m open to ideas!), but I hope it continues to connect fundraising and resource mobilization with social justice movement-building – something that continues to be sorely needed if we are to create broad-based, sustainable social change.

Twelve years ago, I started at GIFT as an intern. I then served on its Board of Directors and came on staff in 2006. By the time I leave, I will have spent five years as Co-Director/Executive Director. I owe so much to my wonderful co-workers, a supportive Board of Directors, and my mentor Stephanie Roth. I owe my passion for and analysis of fundraising to GIFT and to all of you who are part of the organization. I am proof of its dedication to the leadership development of young people of color.

I’m not saying goodbye since I’m sticking around for a while and you’re likely to hear from me soon. And even after I leave, I expect to still be part of GIFT as a donor, trainer, and volunteer.

GIFT’s board is heading our search committee, working in partnership with the staff and our search consultant to find a dynamic new Executive Director. Please help us by forwarding the job announcement or applying.

In appreciation and solidarity,
Priscilla Hung
