Request for Proposals: Development Consultant

The Justice Committee seeks an experienced Development Consultant to assist with prospect research, draft grant proposals and reports, and develop individual donor materials.  The Justice Committee values diversity and is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer and encourages people of people of color, women, and LGBTQ people to apply.

Duties include:

« Develop a database of foundation prospects including foundation priorities and deadlines for LOIs and proposals;

« Track existing foundation grants, including deadlines for grant reports, requests for renewal funding, proposals, etc.; 

« Draft grant proposals and reports, using program descriptions developed with the Co-Director;

« Work with the Co-Director to initiate relationships with foundation partners;

« Assist the Co-Director in preparing for funder meetings, briefings and visits; and

« Develop individual donor fundraising materials including donor appeal letters, thank-you letters, donor updates, and a donation pledge card and envelope.

Qualifications:

« Demonstrated commitment to the values and mission of the Justice Committee;

« Experience in raising funds for non-profits, especially community-based organizations;

« Strong written and oral communication skills;

« Organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and dependable person who takes initiative in their work; 

« Working knowledge of computers; willing to learn new software and skills;

« Spanish language speaking and writing proficiency preferred; and

« Experience in member-led, community based organizations a (as a member, leader, and/or fundraiser) preferred.
