Position Overview

The Director of Development will implement and improve upon a comprehensive plan to generate external support to move MPAC’s strategic goals forward. This is an opportunity to build a department with broad discretion to create a team in a nationally established and growing advocacy group dedicated to increasing public understanding & policies that uphold core American values. Essential Job Functions

Development Strategy

  • Work with the Director of Business Operations to create and implement an annual strategic revenue plan that includes individual, foundation and corporate dollars, and earned income;
  • Create a national grants strategy focused on project funding and capacity-building support;
  • Create and implement an annual strategic marketing plan to increase MPAC’s external presence, brand and channels, including use of social media.

Development Operations

  • Build and lead the Development and Marketing department of 5 staff;
  • Grow regional and national annual individual gift revenue through online giving strategies;
  • Evaluate and maintain or expand the back office systems (database, gift processing, and technology) necessary to increase revenue.

Board Engagement

  • Develop strategy for and lead Board activity around major individual gifts;
  • Strengthen and manage the Development Committee of the Board and work with the President and Board Chair to ensure Board participation in MPAC’s overall revenue-generation efforts;
  • Work with the President to identify and secure Board member candidates who will help move MPAC’s strategic goals forward;
  • Provide input to President and Board in the creation of annual strategic plan;
  • Other duties as assigned by the President.

 

Requirements

  • 5+ years demonstrated experience in individual and/or foundation fundraising;
  • 2+ years experience managing others;
  • Knowledge of and successful experience with online and social media fundraising;
  • Bachelors required;
  • Masters in business, marketing or equivalent preferred.
