Call for Applicants: Seeking a Grant Writer for an Art and Mental Health Nonprofit

Art With Impact promotes mental wellness by creating space for you people to learn and connect through art and media. Since 2012 Art With Impact has conducted over two hundred workshops at colleges and high schools in the United States and Canada, using the emotional power of short film to facilitate insights and create dialogue about mental health issues and connect students with resources. Our data-driven, evidence-based workshops are successful in reducing stigma and improving the odds that students will seek treatment before a mental health crisis emerges. If you are passionate about mental health and the arts’ ability to create change and you are eager to advance the mission of this growing nonprofit organization, you are our ideal candidate and we’d love to meet you.

As Art With Impact’s Grant Writer you will be responsible for researching good funding fits for the organization, managing grant timelines, writing narratives, building budgets, and working with other team members to find the best ways to articulate our work. We also have a handful of highly motivated, talented volunteers who are available to help with grant research and writing who you will be directly managing.

Here’s a little more about you…. You have:

  • A strong commitment to fostering mental wellness in young people

  • A passion for building a deep understanding of a topic and then communicating that knowledge to specific audiences

  • Excellent writing skills and experience with writing a variety of different types of grants including government, private foundation, and corporate

  • A highly developed knack for telling stories through budgets and numbers

  • The ability to proofread and edit your own work with a high degree of accuracy

  • Extensive organizational skills with which you create systems for all aspects of your work, including ongoing research, writing, and follow-up

  • The ability to manage multiple projects at once, maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism with each one

  • Computer literacy, including a good understanding of CRM and project management software (we use Insightly and Asana, but as long as you understand the general concepts these specific ones are easy to learn)

  • A high comfort level working with Google Docs, especially spreadsheet management and maintaining data integrity

  • The ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines while keeping team members and other stakeholders informed and up to date with project-specific information

  • Either lived or professional experience with mental illness and/or maintaining mental wellness

  • Art or film / media literacy background, experience or passion

  • Ability to travel for meetings


You might also have:

  • A masters degree or higher in writing, nonprofit management, or a related field

  • Certification with AGWA or GPA

This is a part-time, contract position and the hours will vary based on the number of projects we have going at any given time. You will usually work 10-30 hours each week at $25/hour. You will work from home with in-person or video meetings each week with the executive director and other team members as needed.
