Southerners On New Ground (SONG) is a regional Queer Liberation organization made up of people of color, immigrants, undocumented people, people with disabilities, working class and rural and small town, LGBTQ people in the South. We believe that we are bound together by a shared desire for ourselves, each other, and our communities to survive and thrive. SONG’s FREE FROM FEAR CAMPAIGNS Free From Fear is SONG’s pledge to a wider collective movement commitment to fight and defeat fear and violence our towns, cities, region, and country that stems from state and institutional violence. Our operations strategy looks like:

• Building the organizational infrastructure to hold SONG’s political work

• Responsibly steward SONG’s resources through transparent and accountable financial systems

• Operationalize security culture and practices

• Engage all members is stewardship of SONG’s resources.

Director Team – Development and Communications

SONG believes in a joint leadership model, where the overall management, oversight, and administration of the organization rests in a Director Team. The Director Team members are partners responsible for ensuring that the organization advances its mission while also maintaining its principles and integrity. They are responsible for financial soundness, programmatic strategies, infrastructure, and both internal and external communications. The Director Team is also responsible for developing annual work plans that advance the goals of the strategic plan, in partnership with staff and the Board of Directors. Learn more and apply.
