Training for Trainers

GIFT builds the leadership capacity of progressive fundraisers of color by developing their skills as trainers, consultants and mentors to social justice organizations nationwide.

GIFT offers a Training for Trainers (T4T) program to teach experienced fundraisers of color training and consulting skills that incorporate a popular education model. We integrate GIFT’s multi-racial, movement-building perspective with a skills-building curriculum focused on grassroots fundraising.

The T4T is typically held every two years.

The key criteria for selection of participants for the T4T are:

  • You are a person of color and have at least three years of fundraising experience (with individual donors, not just grantwriting).
  • You are interested in becoming part of GIFT’s Trainers Network and in teaching fundraising to social justice organizations.
  • You agree to provide one free training or consultation, or assist in a training conducted by a senior GIFT trainer, in the 18 months following the training.

Advanced T4T & Gatherings are for current members of GIFT’s Trainers Network and graduates of our Introductory Training for Trainers. We gather to hone our skills with more advanced training and fundraising topics, talk with other social justice fundraising trainers to share what we are seeing on the ground and in the field, and to discuss how GIFT can better support you.

Please note that this is a mixed race setting, although the majority of participants will be people of color.

Breakfast, lunch, and materials will be provided for both days. Participants will need to cover their own travel to the San Francisco Bay Area and housing, although we can help match you with a local participant who may have a spare couch or bed. Scholarship funds may be available based on certain criteria.
